Call for Papers:

  • JOURNAL OF HISTORY AND SOCIAL SCIENCES [JHSS] a Peer-reviewed Online Journal invites academicians, scholars, researchers to contribute articles to JHSS Issues- Vol: IV, Issue: I, January - June 2013 and Vol: IV, Issue: II July - December, 2013.

 

Note to Authors:

  • Online submission of the article should be sent as an attachment only in MS word .DOC or .DOCX or OpenOffice.ODT format to any of the following Email addresses:  or
  • Article should be written in clear English.
  • Article should be 3,000 - 6,000 words in length.
  • It should be typed in Times New Roman 12 point double spaced throughout including endnotes and references.
  • Indologists should use relevant diacritical marks to make Sanskrit/Pali terms comprehensible.
  • Title of the paper should be clearly given on the title page without the name of the author for peer-review process.
  • On a separate sheet author must give his/her Name, Designation, Institutional address, Home address(optional), Tel No., Fax No.(optional), Email address, Title of the submitted article.
  • Author should not mention his/her name on any page of the article other than the covering letter to facilitate the process of peer-review.
  • Pages of the article should be sequentially numbered.
  • Abstract of 200 words along with key words should be given on the separate sheet.
  • Text Organization: The main text should begin on a separate page preferably divided into separate sections such as Introduction, Materials and Methodology, main Subject of the article and conclusion.
  • The text may be subdivided further according to the areas to be discussed.
  • Illustrations should be in PNG, JPG, JPEG not exceeding 2 Megabytes of file size.
  • Tables/Charts used in the main text should be sequentially numbered and title should be given on the top of the Tables/Charts.
  • Notes, if any, (They are different from references. They are meant to clarify or give the additional information which can not be given in the main text) should be numbered in the text. At the end of the article details of the notes should be given in order of the sequence used in the text. Lengthy notes/arguments should be avoided.
  • Only in-text reference method has to be used.
  • Avoid using bullets and numbering while giving the list of notes or references at the end of the article.
  • In-text references (both for a book and article in Journal/Proceeding) in the main text should be used in square parentheses: e.g. Name of the author [2001 : 1-2]. If referred author has more than one publication in the same year, then, all except the first cited in the article should be differentiated by the use of small alphabets e.g. [2001a : 3-4].
  • Giving page numbers is a must in the references.
  • At the end of the text, bibliography of the used references should be given in alphabetical order.
  • Detail of the references should include author's name, year of the publication, title of the book, volume, part (if any ), edition, name of the publisher, page numbers cited.
  • Example of Book citation: Gupte, R.S. 1972. Iconography of the Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. Bombay: D.B. Taraporewala Sons and Company Pvt. Ltd.: 30-31.
  • Example of article citation from a Journal: Singh, P. 2003. 'Archaeology of the middle Ganga Plain', Man and Environment 28(1): 2-3.
  • Example of article citation from edited Book/Proceedings: Hall, S. 1992. 'The West and the Rest: discourse and power' in S. Hall and B. Gieben (eds), Formations of Modernity. Cambridge: Polity.
  • Acknowledgement, list of abbreviations, list of illustrations - each should be given on a separate page.
  • Citations for articles/material published exclusively online or in open access (free-to-view), must contain the exact Web addresses (URLs) at the end of the reference(s) e.g. Name of the Author. Title of the cited article: Available from: URL. [Retrieved on (give the date when author retrieved)].
  • Author will receive the acknowledgement of the submitted aricle within a month.
  • Author can not withdraw the article after submission.
  • Author will be informed about the acceptance of the article after the process of peer-review.
  • Comments, suggestions of modification/change by the peer-reviewer will be sent to the author.
  • Author will have to send the modified draft within a fortnight after receiving the suggestions.
  • Authors will have to do the proof reading as per editorial board's decision.
  • JHSS expects that the author has permission for reproduction, citation of any material used in the article and due acknowledgement is given for the same.

  • Plagiarism is illegal and author will be responsible for any plagiarised matter used in the article.
  • JHSS will not be responsible for the views of the author expressed in the published article.
  • Editor retains the right to accept/decline the article for the Journal.
  • Decision of the Editor will be final and binding.
